iStoreGreen - green self storage - 5% discount!
Note from Michael: the following information was provided by the merchant. Attention green businesses, do you have a special coupon or discount offer you'd like showcased on Green Living Tips? Learn more here.

iStoreGreen, previously known as Hall Street Self Storage, would like to offer Green Living Tips readers a 5% discount on earth friendly self storage solutions! Just mention this offer.

iStoreGreen, which opened in May 2008 as the first green self-storage space in the country, is taking another bold step into greening an unlikely but important industry.

While currently only located at 12 Hall Street, Brooklyn, NY; owner Jeffrey E. Sitt has launched a mission to make iStoreGreen national, so watch for a facility opening near you.

What makes iStoreGreen earth friendly?

- 100%  renewable energy certified by Green-E* for its electricity

- offers biodegradable packing peanuts

- provides clean reused packing boxes

- offers alternatives to bubble wrap such as shredded paper

- has a room where people can store discarded, but still useful items that are then given to local charities.

- desks for the company’s offices and shelving for the storage spaces made from the wood reclaimed from the remodel of the Brooklyn building

- solar hot water heating

- provision of a free booklet to customers on green living; printed on recycled paper and soy ink.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of recycled packing materials is donated to the Wallabout/Clinton Hill Green Awareness Foundation, an organization devoted to fostering sustainable lifestyle practices within the Downtown Brooklyn community.

Every day actions that make an environmental difference within the company include initiatives like using eco-friendly cleaning products.  These are echoed in an employee awareness program, which include the option of buying such items as natural cleaning products and low-energy light bulbs at cost.

Future plans include a fleet of Pedi vans, which will use pedal power to transfer local residents’ possessions to their storage spaces for a zero-emissions move.

Aside from their environmental mission, iStoreGreen is known for its genuinely warm customer service and has a concierge-like service in which customers are escorted to and from their storage spaces. The storage spaces themselves are very different to the cage like facilities offered by other self-storage companies - colorful, cheery, and bright, with elements like (quality) overhead music playing to make the experience more pleasurable!

iStoreGreen demonstrates that living green doesn’t have to cost more, and can in fact save money, with rates that are at least 50% percent lower than Manhattan self-storage spaces, and less than its Brooklyn neighbors - and Green Living Tips readers get a further 5% discount!

To claim your discount, just mention this offer to the friendly team at iStoreGreen - remember, you need to mention you saw it on Green Living Tips!

You can also contact the company to be put on a list to be notified when an iStoreGreen facility opens near you!
